Overview
The Pappr API is a developer-facing product that allows nonprofits and platforms to access tokenised donor data and manage structured giving events in real time. By using our API, you agree to the following Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the API.
Who Can Use the API
You must:
Be at least 18 years old
Be authorized to act on behalf of an organization (nonprofit, partner, or vendor)
Use the API for lawful, ethical purposes only
API Access and Authentication
Access to the API requires valid API keys or authentication tokens issued by Pappr. You agree to:
Keep credentials secure and confidential
Not share your keys publicly
Immediately report any unauthorized access
Pappr may revoke or suspend access at any time if abuse or violation is detected
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold Pappr Opensource API harmless from any claim or demand, including reasonable attorneys' fees, made by any third party arising out of or in connection with your use of Pappr Opensource API, your violation of these terms and conditions, or your violation of any rights of another party.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
Use the API to collect or distribute personal data outside tokenised, privacy-aligned use cases
Interfere with, disrupt, or degrade Pappr infrastructure
Misuse the API to impersonate users or harvest unpermitted data
Reverse-engineer, decompile, or replicate Pappr infrastructure
We monitor usage for compliance and may throttle or block misuse.
Data Ownership and Privacy
Pappr provides a tokenisation layer. You retain ownership of any data submitted by your users, but Pappr retains rights over the tokenisation architecture and any anonymized, aggregate-level analytics.
By using the API, you agree to comply with South Africa’s POPIA and any applicable privacy laws relevant to your region.

Availability and Uptime
While we strive for high availability, we do not guarantee 100% uptime. Scheduled maintenance, updates, or emergencies may affect access to the API.
Changes to the API or Terms
We may:
Add, update, or deprecate endpoints
Change rate limits or access tiers
Update these Terms
We’ll aim to notify you in advance when possible. Continued use means you accept the changes
Liability and Indemnification
Pappr is not liable for:
Any damages or losses resulting from your use of the API
Third-party use of your implementation
Data loss due to misuse or non-compliance
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Pappr, its founders, and affiliates from claims related to your API use.
Termination
We may suspend or terminate access if:
These Terms are violated
Your integration poses a security, performance, or ethical risk
You may also stop using the API at any time.

Governing Law
